The Southworth Collection contains over 125 photographs by Ginny Southworth, a longtime Aiken resident and award-winning photographer. Ginny has teamed up with graphic artist Cindy Pearce of Pearce Grafx, LLC and Richard Pearce to create an illustrated coffee table style book about Aiken.

Ginny’s latest work emphasizes her full color compositions of easily identified Aiken landmarks as well as Aiken’s quieter side and natural areas. This keepsake collection provides fresh perspectives of well-known Aiken icons and has something for everyone. It is the perfect gift for visitors to recall their time here. For residents, it provides a valuable visual archive of all that is special about our town. $40

This special edition poster created and signed by noted southern artist, Jim Harrison, symbolizes the unique charm of Old Aiken. It represents his first work featuring a new, somewhat impressionistic approach to painting. It will be seen first in Aiken. $20. An historical and culinary perspective of food and cooking in Aiken from the late 1700’s up to the present time, along with a narrative of the town’s development.  It strives to link every recipe in the cookbook to a person, place or event in Aiken’s long and storied history.  It features recipes reflective of the times in each of its chronological sections, plus vignettes of people and events, artwork from Old Aiken, and interesting historical records and photographs. $26

  Transportation Parade to the Railroad Depot: Saturday, Sept 18, an historical parade of vehicles from the horse and buggy to the hydrogen car will wind though downtown to the new railroad depot. Call (803) 649-2221.

Business, Innovation and Technology Facility Tours: During August and September various institutions will offer the public guided tours of their facilities. Exact dates, times and locations have yet to be determined. Call (803) 649-2221.
